According to data from the Spanish Society of Cardiology, the leading cause of death in Spain is cardiovascular disease; most of these are caused by atherosclerosis, the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the artery walls. Risk factors for developing atherosclerosis include high blood levels of “bad cholesterol” (LDL) and triglycerides, and low levels of “good cholesterol” (HDL), high blood pressure, diabetes, or obesity, and being sedentary and/or a smoker. New risk factors are now emerging: high blood levels of homocysteine and lipoprotein (a) or Lp(a).
The Spanish Society of Atherosclerosis offers a series of recommendations to prevent the development of atherosclerosis:
- Eat a healthy diet and exercise daily to avoid overweight and obesity. A sedentary lifestyle must be eliminated from our lives.
- Toxic substances such as tobacco and alcohol must be avoided.
- Cholesterol and blood glucose levels, as well as blood pressure, must be adequately controlled.

Omegatex® (fish oil, 36% EPA and 24% DHA), AstaPure® (astaxanthin-rich oleoresin from Haematococcus pluvialis algae, std. to 10% astaxanthin), Pharmaquinone® [vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7)], B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), Folic acid (pteroylmonoglutamic acid), B12 (methylcobalamin), Emulsifier (lecithins), Thickener (beeswax).
Coating: Water, Gelatin, Glycerin, Colours (black and red iron oxide).
