The sun is the source of life and provides many benefits, although it also carries health risks. It is known that sunbathing without protection increases the risk of sunburn, causes premature skin aging, increases oxidative phenomena and the risk of skin cancer. But our body has its own protection mechanism in response to sun exposure! It is the increase in the synthesis of melanin, a pigment of the epidermis that provides a tanned tone to the skin, whose function is to protect from excess ultraviolet (UV) radiation. We must minimize the harmful effects of the sun and follow the recommendations of the experts. If we want to tan, let’s do it taking precautions:

• It is not necessary to sunbathe in the hours around noon. We must wear clothes, a hat and sunglasses.
• We must always use topical sunscreen !: creams, lotions and gels that have a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF) and a broad UV spectrum. Apply them 15-30 minutes before sun exposure and repeat every 2 hours. Use an adequate quantity and spread it evenly. Also use photoprotective lip balm, such as our Liproline Lip Stick with SPF 15.
